Before starting any earthwork, the limits of the subgrade must be identified when the embankment is completed by placing pegs at regular intervals. For the edges to be constructed correctly, the construction toe line must be greater than the design toe line.
The top of the embankment must be leveled to make it easier to insert the first layer of subgrade, scarified, combined with water, and then rolled into a minimum dry density as required by the updated technical specification.
The subgrade treatment required for the subgrade must be completed in accordance with the authorized drawing. Unsuitable material detected in the sub-grade foundation must be removed in accordance with the Engineer’s instructions and permission. Approved materials must then be substituted, laid out in layers, and adequately compacted to the necessary and prescribed degree.
